Joliet Remembers
The 1930s

 

In 1932, Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, and won fame similar to that of Charles Lindbergh.  Tragically , she disappeared on a flight across the South Pacific in July, 1937.
