Remodeling at the Main Library Is Almost Complete!

The Ottawa Street door is now the only entrance.
All other doors are emergency exits.
Note the new sliding glass doors.

Items and Storytime rooms for our very youngest patrons are to left as you enter the building. Stop at the Circulation Desk to return books, renew items or get a library card if you don't already have one.

The Ottawa Street Lobby looking south towards the large print room. Note the new lighting, display tables and the newly polished 105-year old marble floors.

As you enter the Large Print room to the south of the Ottawa Street lobby you'll notice new displays and the Friends of Joliet Public Library ongoing booksale.

In the The Large Print Room you'll find new lighting and seating for relaxing in front the 105-year oak fireplace. The tiles on the fireplace tell part of the story of Hiawatha.

This mother and her puppies were carved from a single block of wood and have been resting in front of the fireplace for over 50 years.

In the The Large Print Room you will also find seating for small groups to quietly talk or study.

Music CDs have been moved to the lobby area. You'll find them just past the Circulation Desk as you head towards the Fiction and Youth Services areas.

Pick up your 'Holds' or checkout your books at the self checkout stations opposite the Circulation desk . We've added an extra one for your convenience. You'll find fiction displays here too!

Ask questions at the new Reader's Advisory desk for Youth Services. You'll find displays of new items here too. Step thru the gates to Readingham Garden.

Items for our very youngest patrons can be found in the  Readingham Garden. The fire truck is down this way too!

Our Storytime Room is located in the Readingham Garden. Toys, books and all kinds of goodies await your little ones.

Just past Circulation you'll see book displays, catalog computers and a new Fiction Reader's Advisory desk.

Audiobooks, videos and DVDs can be found to your right as you approach the desk. If you have questions, need help placing holds or can't find an item, please ask us!!

The Fiction area has small tables for reading or quiet group discussion. The fiction collection is now separated into the more popular genres to make it easier for you.

Another table in the fiction area near the new displays.

This is the Reader's Advisory Desk for grade school age and young adult patrons. Stop here with your questions or to sign up for a program.  We're here to help!

The InfoZone computer area is for our patrons under 18. Here they can get homework help and assistance locating materials for school projects. Parents/caregivers are always welcome!
